IPOH: A sea of Jalur Gemilang flags filled the grounds of Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) as 2,000 participants took part in the Merdeka@PUO 2025 celebration.
Patriotic spirit was high throughout the lively and meaningful event, as participants expressed their deep love for the country.

The program was more than just a parade or vehicle decoration contest — it served as an important platform to strengthen national pride among students, staff, and the local community.
In addition to active participation from PUO students and staff, the event also received strong support from the Department of National Unity and Integration and the Perak State Department of Information.
In a statement, PUO expressed appreciation to all parties involved, both directly and indirectly, in making the event a success.

According to the statement, the involvement of all stakeholders is vital in nurturing unity and patriotism among the younger generation.
“This program is not just an ordinary celebration, but a joint effort to reflect on the true meaning of independence. It highlights the strength of collaboration between educational institutions, community leaders, and society as a whole,” said the statement.
Earlier, the event was officiated by Ipoh Timor Member of Parliament, Howard Lee, and Perak Deputy Speaker and Canning Assemblywoman, Jenny Choy Tsi Jen.
PUO also received a RM6,000 contribution from Komuniti Madani Canning, the Ipoh Timor MP Service Centre, and DUN Canning Service Centre.
