Call to Clean Up Illegal Dumping and Clogged Drains at Little India Back Lane

BY: Aida Aziz

IPOH: Piles of rubbish have been spotted at several locations along the back lanes behind shops in Little India, as well as near the small road adjacent to the Perak State Health Department.

The public has urged the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to inspect the area, which may have been overlooked during routine waste collection.

Residents also voiced concern over irresponsible individuals who continue to dump rubbish indiscriminately, worsening the situation.

One complainant pointed out that the drains in the area are clogged with soil and have not been properly cleaned, raising concerns about dengue outbreaks and other health hazards.

“I passed through this back lane when I came to watch the Merdeka Day parade in Ipoh.

“I was very disappointed with the Ipoh City Council, which only showcased shiny assets during the parade.

“But in reality, the cleanliness of Ipoh town is in a deplorable state. It is embarrassing if outsiders see this situation. The public must also play their part by not dumping waste indiscriminately,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.
