Ipoh – The Ipoh City Council (MBI) views its visit to the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) as a strategic step to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and foster the development of a skilled workforce.

The official working visit was held to explore potential strategic collaborations in TVET and future technologies.

The MBI delegation, led by Clr. Muhammad Hamzah and Clr. Faidz Ismail was warmly received by GMI Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Solihin at Technology Complex 3 (KT3) in Selangor.

During the visit, the delegation toured key GMI departments, including the Computer & Information Department (CID) – Cyber Battlefield Centre, Mini Cinema and 2D Design Lab; the Electrical Engineering Department (EED) – Festo Lab and EV & Hybrid Lab; and the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) – Additiv Zentrum.

Briefing sessions and discussions focused on potential strategic partnerships, particularly to strengthen the participation of students from Perak at GMI.

Established in 1991, GMI is a pioneering Malaysia-Germany institute with expertise in Industrial Automation & Robotics and Precision Machining & CNC Technology, serving as a world-class training hub for skilled workers.

The visit aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 agenda, which emphasises TVET as a core pillar for developing skilled human capital and a competent workforce in the state.
