Taiping Bird Week 2025 Strengthens Taiping’s Role as a Leading Ecotourism Destination

TAIPING, Oct 12 — The Taiping Bird Week 2025 (TBW25), held at Zoo Taiping & Night Safari, has further strengthened Taiping’s image as a premier ecotourism destination and a sustainable natural heritage city.

In his closing speech, the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) president said the event, officiated by DYAM Raja DiHilir Perak Darul Ridzuan, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, successfully attracted around 1,200 participants from various backgrounds, including students, photographers, nature lovers, and local residents.

Key highlights included the Taiping Bird Race, Taiping Photo Run, Hornbill Fun Walk, and Taiping Bird Talk, which drew over 200 participants. The Hornbill Fun Walk recorded the highest participation with 700 people, reflecting the strong community support for biodiversity conservation efforts.

He said Zoo Taiping & Night Safari continues to serve as a proud landmark of Taiping, housing over 1,300 animals from 120 species. Last year alone, the zoo received more than 700,000 visitors, making it one of the major attractions in northern Malaysia.

To strengthen its position as a leading ecotourism site, MPT has undertaken several enhancement projects, including the development of the Malayan Tiger Exercise Yard worth RM900,000 under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12).

Zoo Taiping has also received ISO 21101:2014 – Adventure Tourism Safety Management System (ATSMS) certification from NIOSH Certification for its electric tram service, underscoring its commitment to international safety and professionalism standards.

The president also shared good news of several new animal births this year, including a chimpanzee, three Bawean deer, and two milky storks.

MPT expressed appreciation to its strategic partners, including the Malaysia Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF), Canon Marketing Malaysia, Optisan Optics (Taiwan), Spritzer, and Tourism Malaysia, for their continued support in making TBW25 a success.
