IPOH — The iconic Kampung Boy by Malaysia’s National Laureate cartoonist, Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid, better known as Datuk Lat, will be brought to life on stage at the JKKN Perak Auditorium from November 14 to 16.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through the Perak Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) in collaboration with the Perak Kayangan Arts Organisation (PESKAP) and the Perak State Government, the theatre production serves as a tribute to the Royal Artist and proud son of Perak.

The cast features Taiyuddin Bakar, Safura Ya’cob, Ilya Senario, Hadi Mikail, and several other actors, with Saad Omar as the scriptwriter and Ridhwan Saidi as the director.

Perak JKKN Director Hisham Mat Husien said the theatre production not only celebrates a legendary Malaysian work but also acts as a platform to strengthen appreciation for local arts and heritage.

“This performance is not merely a tribute to our Royal Artist but also reflects the spirit of the Malaysia MADANI aspiration,” he said.

Adding prestige to the event, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, is scheduled to attend the second-night performance on November 15.

Alongside the main theatre production, several side programmes will also take place, including a Cultural Arts Clinic, Children’s Theatre Workshop, and an informal session titled ‘Ate Moh Nyembang’. Tickets are priced at RM25 for the public and RM20 for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (OKU).
