SUNGAI SIPUT – Sungai Siput now has a new attraction for nature and culture enthusiasts with the official opening of the community-based ecotourism destination, Jok Maduh D’Kenang.

The launch ceremony was officiated by YB Loh Sze Yee, Chairman of the Perak State Committee for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development, in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

According to Loh, the destination offers an excellent opportunity to showcase Malaysia’s natural beauty and the local community’s culture, particularly that of the Temiar Orang Asli.

“The Perak State Government fully supports this initiative, focusing on tourism products that are locally rooted, high-quality, and that provide direct benefits to local communities,” he said.

Developed in partnership with the Temiar Indigenous community of Kampung Kenang, Jok Maduh D’Kenang, which means “let’s go to Kenang”, offers a variety of activities, including environmental learning, cultural experiences, and riverside recreational spots along the Korbu River.

Facilities include four chalets, six huts, picnic and barbecue areas, as well as demonstrations of Temiar culture such as traditional animal traps and local cuisine.

Meanwhile, Perak and Kedah JAKOA Director Harulnizam Abd Rahman said the destination not only highlights Sungai Siput’s natural beauty but also opens up new economic opportunities for the Orang Asli community.

“This initiative successfully integrates nature, culture, and conservation, in line with the principles of community-based ecotourism,” he said.

Entrance fees are RM5 for adults (13 and above) and RM3 for children (3-12 years old), making it a family-friendly destination ideal for a relaxing getaway.
