IPOH, 27 March 2026 — The corridors of Travelodge Ipoh came alive on the evening of 27 March 2026, as Knewton Global Schools Ipoh unveiled its much-anticipated Performing Arts Night with a spectacular production of Alex Through the Looking Glass. Students from Year 1 through Year 10 took to the stage in a spellbinding performance that left parents, families and friends thoroughly enchanted.

A Timeless Story Reimagined for Today’s World
This year’s production was no ordinary school play. Alex Through the Looking Glass reimagined Lewis Carroll’s beloved classic through the lens of today’s fast-paced digital world. As Alex steps through the mirror, he navigates a curious landscape populated by characters inspired by social media, artificial intelligence and modern technology — from the TikTok Mad Hatter and the AI Caterpillar, to the Rewind Rabbit and the Emoji Queen. At its heart, the story carried a timely message about identity, balance and staying true to oneself in a world full of noise and distraction.

Students Shine Across Every Act
The evening opened with a stirring choral performance of A Million Dreams and Pure Imagination, setting the tone for what was to come. Over eleven scenes, the cast brought the Mirror World to life through drama, dance and breathtaking ballet solos and duets. Standout moments included a graceful ballet solo by Samantha Alison (Year 6), an intricate Paquita Variation performed by Teh Vivian (Year 8), and a stunning ballet duet between Samantha Alison and Teh Vivian that drew audible admiration from the audience.
Leading the cast as Alex was Adrian Raphael Farhan, whose confident portrayal carried the audience through the whimsical world beyond the mirror. Narrators Kayleigh Lau, Braveena Balanishanthan and Austin Cole Eng guided the story with poise and clarity, while key characters including Darius Teh, Samiir Mohamed, Daniel Zachary, Kartigeyan Kristen, Jaden Wong and Krishna Gita delivered memorable performances that delighted the crowd.
The production culminated in a joyful finale — The Magic of Being Me — a lively, full-cast celebration of dance that ended the evening on a high note of togetherness and pride.
“Tonight is a story of teamwork, overcoming criticisms, wiping away a few tears, standing tall and finally putting your best foot forward. You are not just going to hear those words — tonight, you are going to see exactly what they look like in person.” — Dr. Evelyn, Opening Address

A Labour of Love, Months in the Making
Behind the curtain, the production was the result of months of meticulous planning, rehearsals and creative collaboration. Teachers, backstage crew, stage managers, makeup and costume teams and Year 10 students serving as audio-visual coordinators all worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was perfect. The school’s entire staff contributed to bringing the production together, a true testament to the community spirit that defines Knewton Global Schools Ipoh.
