TAIPING: Zoo Taiping & Night Safari has remained among the main tourist attractions in Perak, particularly in Taiping, throughout its 65 years of operation.
The zoo has achieved various successes, including breeding iconic species.
Among them are the Bornean Orangutan, as well as the successful conservation programme for the Milky Stork, which has shown an encouraging increase in numbers.

Today, the zoo has grown into one of the country’s leading tourism destinations, covering 34 acres.
It houses more than 1,200 animals from 120 species and receives over 600,000 visitors annually.
In conjunction with the milestone, the 65th Anniversary Celebration of Zoo Taiping & Night Safari was held at the zoo’s pavilion.
The event was officiated by Deputy Education Minister and Wong Kah Woh.
The 65th anniversary celebration marks a historic moment that not only reflects the achievements of the zoo since its establishment in 1961.
It also highlights its continued commitment towards wildlife conservation, environmental education and the development of the ecotourism sector in Taiping.
The ceremony also served as an important platform to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, the corporate sector and educational institutions.
This is to ensure Zoo Taiping & Night Safari continues to thrive as an international-standard centre for conservation and education.
