LUMUT: The public will have the rare opportunity to board warships, boats and get an up-close look at military assets that are usually inaccessible.
All this awaits visitors, especially maritime and defence enthusiasts, during Fleet Day 2025 at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut from May 1 to May 3.

Throughout the three-day event, the Lumut naval base will be open to visitors.
The RMN Western Fleet Headquarters said in a statement that various programmes have been lined up from 8 am to 7pm daily, offering a range of family-friendly activities.
Among the main attractions is the exclusive opportunity for visitors to board actual RMN warships.
“This experience allows the public to witness the operational environment inside the vessels, something that is rarely opened to the public.
“In addition, visitors will also be treated to rare aerial and maritime action displays, including parachute demonstrations, high-speed boat operations, jet ski showcases and an anti-hijacking simulation highlighting the capability of RMN personnel in real-life situations,” the statement said.

The carnival atmosphere will also be enlivened with various stage performances such as a live band by Frogman, a brass band and silent drill displays.
The entertainment highlight is expected to be a special performance by Ella, which is likely to draw many fans.
As the sun sets, visitors are encouraged not to miss the Sunset Ceremony at 6 pm, a daily closing event rich in tradition and symbolism within naval military culture.
The public is encouraged to attend with family and friends to experience first-hand the unique opportunity to get closer to the nation’s maritime defence world.
