IPOH – A monument commemorating the sacrifices of police personnel has become a new landmark as a symbol of honour and remembrance.
The Satria Perkasa Monument of the Northern Brigade General Operations Force (PGA) is located at the Ulu Kinta Camp here.
The monument bears the names of 68 Northern Brigade personnel who fell in the line of duty and during operations.
Their sacrifices span from the 1963 Confrontation in Sarawak to Operation Taring in Kedah and Perlis in 2020.
The names engraved on the monument serve as a historical record and a symbol of responsibility for the new generation to continue safeguarding the nation’s peace and security with unwavering commitment.
The monument’s three-pillar design carries a profound meaning, representing the PGA’s official motto: “Cekal, Berani dan Setia” (Steadfast, Brave and Loyal).
The PGA, formerly known as the Jungle Police Force, has served as one of the nation’s strongest frontline forces in defending the sovereignty and security of the country.
Earlier, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graciously attended the inauguration of the Satria Perkasa Monument of the Northern Brigade PGA.
Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
In his address, Mohd Khalid said the Satria Perkasa Monument was not merely a physical monument or landmark.
Instead, he said the monument represented a profound manifestation of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)’s commitment to preserving historical records, honouring the services and sacrifices, and safeguarding the legacy of the nation’s fallen heroes.
