PANGKOR – A complaint regarding the condition of the staircase at Pangkor Jetty, previously raised by Pangkor State Assemblywoman Norhaslinda Zakaria, has received prompt follow-up action.
The complaint was also previously highlighted by Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic.
Norhaslinda expressed her appreciation to the Perak State Secretary Incorporated (SSI Perak) for its swift action in addressing the issue.
She said the action reflected the authorities’ concern for the safety and comfort of jetty users.
Previously, the staircase was covered with barnacles and snails, causing its surface to become slippery and posing a safety risk to the public.
The condition was feared to potentially lead to unwanted incidents, particularly among users entering and leaving the jetty.
Norhaslinda said Pangkor Jetty, as one of the main gateways to Pangkor Island, should always be maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
She hoped regular maintenance work would continue to be carried out to prevent similar problems from recurring.
Such efforts would not only benefit local residents but also enhance the comfort and experience of tourists visiting Pangkor Island.
“Thank you to SSI for the prompt action in ensuring that this public facility continues to be properly maintained for the well-being of the community,” she said.
