GERIK – The Strategic Plan for the Social Determinants of Orang Asli Health 2026–2035 has been launched to strengthen efforts to improve the health and well-being of the Orang Asli community.
The plan serves as an integrated action framework to address the social determinants of health among the Orang Asli population.

It aims to tackle community health issues more comprehensively, including education, economic well-being, nutrition and environmental factors.
The plan outlines the national direction through six key pillars, to be implemented through cross-sectoral collaboration.
The 10-year plan is the first national policy document of its kind and will be implemented through a whole-of-government approach involving 17 ministries and implementing agencies.

Close cooperation between the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) is crucial to ensuring the plan delivers a sustained impact.
The initiative also focuses on the overall well-being of the Orang Asli community through a more integrated approach.
The launch ceremony was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, together with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, at RPS Banun.
Also present was Deputy Speaker I of the Dewan Rakyat, Dato’ Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor.
