PANGKOR – Manjung Branch of the Malaysian Immigration Department has stepped in to assist a breast cancer patient who is bedridden at Pasir Bogak, Pulau Pangkor, with issues concerning her passport, which is nearing its expiry date.
The matter was brought to the attention of Pangkor State Assemblywoman Norhaslinda Zakaria, who subsequently referred the issue to the Malaysian Immigration Department.
According to Norhaslinda, the patient is unable to move and is not in a suitable condition to travel to renew her passport.
Following this, Head of the Immigration Office in Lumut, Wan Fatonah, together with her team, acted promptly by visiting the patient’s home this morning.
“The visit was aimed at assessing the patient’s condition firsthand and identifying the steps that could be taken to assist in resolving her passport-related matters,” Norhaslinda said.
Norhaslinda expressed her appreciation and gratitude to Wan Fatonah and all personnel of the Malaysian Immigration Department’s Manjung Branch for their concern and prompt action.
She said the initiative demonstrated that public service was not only about efficiency but also about upholding humanitarian values.
“The Immigration Department’s swift action has given hope to the patient and her family, who are currently facing a difficult health situation.
“I also hope that all matters involving the patient will be facilitated and that everyone involved in assisting her will be rewarded accordingly,” she said.
Norhaslinda said the concern and swift response demonstrated by government agencies should be appreciated, as such efforts can provide meaningful assistance to people who are genuinely in need.
