The programme benefits residents of Kampung Kota Bharu and the school community of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Malim Nawar.

Public Service Department Director, General Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, said the programme’s implementation since April demonstrated how strategic cooperation between government agencies could deliver tangible benefits to the people.

“In April, we came with an action plan. But today, at the end of October, we are no longer talking about promises. We have returned to see the results,” he said.

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the JPA 2026 MADANI Adopted Village and School Programme at the field of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kota Bharu in Gopeng today.

For the MADANI Adopted Village initiative, RM535,000 was allocated, comprising RM500,000 from the Finance Ministry and RM35,000 from JPA, to implement eight physical development projects.

These include upgrading Masjid Jamek, the community hall, health clinic, police station and SK Kota Bharu’s pavilion, as well as constructing a village landmark and providing smart boards.

The village also received 40 solar streetlights worth RM380,000 through collaboration with the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW).

In addition, the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU JPM) allocated RM450,000 to build a new multipurpose hall equipped with two badminton courts. The project is still underway.

Meanwhile, RM100,000 was allocated to SMK Malim Nawar under the MADANI Adopted School initiative.

Of the amount, RM90,000 was used to upgrade the computer laboratory, Design and Technology (RBT) workshop and science laboratory, while the remaining RM10,000 was channelled towards educational development programmes for students and teachers.

Apart from physical development projects, various community activities were also organised, including the Ibadah Korban programme, GP Joran, People’s Sports, Health and Psychology Outreach, MADANI Tuition, gotong-royong activities and the Community Heroes Carnival.

The closing ceremony also saw the distribution of Bakul Rahmah aid packages to 97 families in Kampung Kota Bharu, along with contributions to the school and tokens of appreciation for strategic partners.

In another development, Wan Ahmad Dahlan expressed pride in SK Kota Bharu’s achievement in winning a gold medal through its Ecowire Roll innovation at the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo 2026 on October 25.

An SMK Malim Nawar female student also earned the opportunity to represent Selangor in football.

He said the achievements demonstrated that rural students could excel when given the right opportunities, facilities and support.

“Public officers must not merely rely on theories; we must show empathy, go down to the ground, listen to the people’s concerns and understand their needs firsthand,” he said.

He also urged residents to take good care of the facilities provided and make full use of them for the well-being of the community and future generations.
