YINZO KettyBot

In my first review of Yinzo Kopi when it first opened in July 2019, I said, “Now with the opening of Yinzo Kopi, one can snack in cool comfort in an ambience reminiscent of a bygone era.”

The cool comfort and ambience is still there but the bygone era has time travelled to the age of Artificial intelligence or AI as it is now commonly called.

The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have provided time and inspiration to the management of Yinzo to introduce KettyBot, a robot server that delivers food to your table with remarkable precision, providing additional security measures for people in their premises now that they are open for dine-in.

No more worries about human servers breathing on your food as they bring it to your table. Your KettyBot is programmed to find its way to your table, stop at a precise point where you can easily reach for each dish you ordered and when you press a button, it will turn around and depart.

Celebrating a birthday? Tell your server and KettyBot will sing you a “Happy Birthday” song after delivering your cake or whatever else you ordered. It can also do this in multiple languages to delight your guests.

According to William Oh, Manager and co-proprietor of Yinzo, the robot is made in China but uses Toshiba technology. It uses the ‘cloud’ method to set table locations on a detailed floor map.

Yinzo follows their SOPs very seriously. Customers are not allowed to take off their mask before their food arrives, seating capacity has been reduced to half and currently the shop can accommodate 50 people. The tables are very well spaced out and because the shop itself is very big, there is good air ventilation, as the windows and doors are left open. Entrances and exits are well marked and secured, making Yinzo a safe place to dine.

By the way, I have always lauded Yinzo’s Kai Si Hor Fun (Ipoh’s iconic Chicken Noodle Soup) as one of the best in Ipoh. Wonderful broth that has been simmered for hours, the kway teow velvety and delicate and the soup totally slurp-worthy.

Add KettyBot and let’s dine out again. What are you waiting for, dear readers?
