Firefighters had to break down the door to the room of a woman who was suffering from depression and believed to have attempted suicide in a house in Meru Raya this morning.

A spokesperson for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak informed that they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.34am.

He said firefighters from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the scene of the incident and found a woman in her 30s locked in a room due to depression.

“The fire brigade that arrived at the scene of the incident was instructed by the operation commander to break open the door to the room and hand the victim over to her husband.

“A female firefighter who was at the location also tried to persuade the victim to calm down and then gave words of encouragement,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

The operation led by Senior Fire Officer II Nor Azam Abd Rahman ended at 7.14am.
