In a city pulsating with familiarity and warmth, stands Sushi East Japanese Restaurant. This cherished establishment, lovingly owned, and operated by the dynamic duo, Chef Hui Yoon Onn, and Ms. Wong Yen Peng, has been an unwavering cornerstone of Japanese dining in Ipoh since 2004.

From Ipoh to the vibrant streets of New York City, Chef Hui and Ms. Wong, united by their love for authentic Japanese cuisine, embarked on a remarkable journey. Their paths converged in Japan, where she managed a Japanese restaurant, while he was a chef there. After a ten-year stint in the United States, the duo returned to Ipoh, opening the doors to Sushi East almost 2 decades ago.

As partners, they brought a wealth of experience, passion, and a commitment to sharing the Flavors of Japan with their community.

The restaurant exudes a sense of zen with its light-coloured wood décor and Japanese motifs, creating an inviting ambiance.  For those seeking privacy, two VIP private rooms with traditional Japanese sliding doors are available, accommodating up to eight people. With a total capacity of 80 persons, the restaurant is perfect for intimate gatherings or lively family parties.
