IPOH: The fish supply for this Chinese New Year is adequate, with around 1,600 tons of fish provided, including both imported fish and local catches.
Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, Chairman of the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), stated that the current fish stock is enough to meet demand.
“We have made thorough preparations and worked with fishing associations and private companies to ensure the fish supply is sufficient throughout the festive season.
“With the existing stock, we are confident that the fish supply will be sufficient, and prices can be stabilized,” he said.
He made this statement to the press after launching the Madani Fishermen’s Children Back to School Program (LKIM-Petronas) in Tanjung Piandang, Parit Buntar.
Additionally, LKIM continues to offer various subsidies and incentives to help fishermen improve productivity and income.
For fishermen in Perak, LKIM has announced an additional 1 million liters of diesel quota.
This is to support fishermen who rely on diesel for their fishing operations, enabling them to catch more and larger fish.
“This step will further strengthen fishing activities in Perak and help stabilize the fish supply for the market, especially during the festive season.
“Perak is one of the states with many fishermen, and the need for diesel to ensure smooth operations is very high,” he said.
