Food samples tested at Ramadan bazaars to ensure safety for sale

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The safety of food sold at Ramadan bazaars must be given attention by stall operators to prevent any undesirable incidents.

In addition to preventing food poisoning, proper preparation can also prevent food from being stale, smelly, or not long-lasting.

For this reason, inspections are carried out by the Food Safety and Quality Unit, Environmental Health Department, Ipoh City Council (MBI).

Officers take food samples as part of a food safety control measure to ensure they are clean, safe, and comply with the required standards.

Sampling is carried out periodically according to a schedule set by the Perak State Health Department at several Ramadan bazaar locations around Ipoh.

A total of six ready-to-eat food samples have been sent to the Ipoh Public Health Laboratory for analysis.

This is to ensure compliance with the Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985.

If the analysis results show any violations of food safety standards, enforcement action will be taken.

MBI will continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement to ensure food safety is always guaranteed for the well-being of consumers.
