IPOH – The management of Silverlakes Village Outlet (SVO) has come forward to clarify a viral post shared on the Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic Facebook page dated May 7, refuting several inaccurate claims regarding the retail outlet.

In an official statement released yesterday, the management stressed that SVO is not a government initiative, as was misunderstood by some, but a private-sector development spearheaded by Silverland Capital Sdn. Bhd.

“SVO is a 100% private investment project and not a government initiative, contrary to the assumptions made by certain parties,” the statement clarified.

The outlet mall, designed as an open-air shopping destination offering year-round discounts, is the first of its kind in Perak to combine natural and resort-style elements.

With its tranquil open-air environment and natural surroundings, SVO is not only a new shopping destination but also holds unique potential as a tourism attraction in the state.

Addressing allegations of excessive parking fees, the management clarified that SVO imposes a reasonable charge of RM1 for the first three hours, with ample and comfortable parking spaces available for visitors.

“We firmly reject claims suggesting we impose unreasonable parking fees. Visitor comfort and affordability are among our top priorities,” the statement added.

SVO also assured that its rental rates are competitively priced, with various leasing promotions currently being offered to potential tenants.

Among notable brands already operating at SVO are Coach, Coach Café, Tataa & Friends, Toyworld, Calisto, Moodboard, Babyshop, and Nasi Kandar Georgetown; all of which are firsts in Perak.

The management revealed that more tenants are expected to come on board by the end of 2025, with a target to boost occupancy rates in the third and fourth quarters of the year.

Upcoming additions include more food and beverage outlets, water activities, a family entertainment centre, branded fashion boutiques, pickleball courts, and a wedding hall.

As part of its ongoing branding efforts, SVO is actively running campaigns and promotional activities to draw visitors.

To date, the outlet has hosted and will continue to organise a series of events such as car shows, fashion showcases, dragon boat races, half-marathons, sales carnivals, kayak fishing competitions, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and charity bazaars.

The management also called on the public and retail industry players to lend moral support, noting that many retailers are still monitoring the Perak market amid a nationwide retail slowdown in the post-pandemic landscape.

“We are committed to positioning SVO as a new economic catalyst for Perak, but sustained support is crucial to instill confidence among more retailers to invest here,” the statement concluded.
