MANJUNG: A total of 35 individuals were detained in an integrated operation against illegal immigrants at the Teluk Senangin coastline in Segari here on August 9.
Manjung district police chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the operation was conducted by a team from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, the Central Brigade General Operations Force (PGA), and the Manjung district police Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
“The raid was conducted along the Teluk Senangin coastline and resulted in the arrest of 35 individuals, comprising 20 men, 12 Indonesian women migrants and three local men.
“All those detained were taken to the Manjung district police headquarters for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (Act 670), Section 6(1)(C) and Section 15(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155),” he said.
