International School in Ipoh evacuated after receiving fake bomb threat via email

IPOH: The building of an International School here had to be evacuated after receiving a bomb threat via email from an unknown individual today.

Chief of Police of Perak, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, said that they received information from school officials regarding the incident at 10:10 this morning.

He said, following that, the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) of the State Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Perak conducted a thorough inspection inside the respective school building.

“After the safety status is confirmed, all teaching staff and school students are allowed to re-enter the building at around 1:15 PM,” he told reporters here today.

He added, the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He also issued a stern warning to the public not to send indiscriminate threatening emails of fake bombs, causing fear and jeopardizing public safety
