“The Environmental Health Department of MBI has intensified monitoring activities to ensure the cleanliness of food premises, including the personal hygiene of food handlers, food preparation areas, and restroom facilities.

“The goal is to achieve the ‘BMW’ standards, which stand for ‘Bersih’ (Clean), ‘Menawan’ (Attractive), and ‘Wangi’ (Fragrant), to meet the requirements of tourists, ensuring a clean and safe environment,” he said.

As of last September, out of the 1,072 restaurants, cafes, and dining establishments assessed this year, a total of 359 received Grade A assessment certificates.

He made these remarks after officiating the Cleanest Restaurant and Cafe Awards Presentation program and the presentation of Grade A Certificates in conjunction with World Environmental Health Day.

He added that through this program, MBI aims to promote the cleanest restaurant and cafe premises while setting a benchmark for others. It is hoped that this initiative will encourage the participation of other Grade A food establishments in the MBI area to join the competition in the upcoming editions.
