IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has awarded 27 contracts through a ballot process involving two key departments, with a total allocation of RM2.3 million.
The Engineering Department of MBI offered contracts worth RM1.74 million for road resurfacing works.
Meanwhile, the MBI Landscape Department allocated RM624,000 for upgrading sports courts and fields, installing fencing and ball barriers, and supplying park benches and shade trees.
This allocation includes RM1.4 million from the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) Fund, RM300,000 from the People’s Economy Fund (Public Facility Incentives), and RM624,000 from MBI’s own funds.
The Contract Ballot Session 01/25 was streamed live via MBI’s official Facebook page.
It was officiated by Ipoh Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah and attended by City Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak along with representatives from contractor companies.
The ballot was open to G1 contractors registered with CIDB under the civil engineering category from the Kinta district only, with contract values below RM100,000.
A total of 127 contractors who passed the screening and met the eligibility criteria participated in the session.
These contract awards are expected to stimulate the local economy and create job opportunities for the local community.
