BEHRANG, June 18 — A total of 220 students from 20 polytechnics across the country have been commissioned as Civil Defence Junior Staff Officers (SM PA).
The commissioning ceremony for the Civil Defence Institutional Team (PISPA) was officiated by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, at Dewan Muallim, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS) here today.
The event was held in conjunction with the inaugural 1st POLYCC Malaysian Civil Defence Annual Camp and Commissioning (MalCiDAC) 2025, organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM).
The six-day programme, which ran from June 13 to 18, brought together 340 students from 22 polytechnics and 106 community colleges nationwide.
Four skill-based civil defence competitions were held during the programme: the Marching Parade, the Civil Defence Skill Challenge, the Survival Cooking Challenge, and the Woodball Challenge.
According to the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK), PISPA is a co-curricular module jointly developed with the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and APM to strengthen students’ discipline, teamwork, and critical thinking skills — preparing them for the challenges of the real working world.
The event also saw the presentation of the Best Cadet Awards. Tengku Muhammad Ashaff from Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah and Nur Sabrina Zamri from Politeknik Port Dickson were named best male and female cadets, respectively, for the polytechnic category.
In the community college category, Anas Fakhruddin from Kolej Komuniti Bukit Beruang and Nor Farah Ananda from Kolej Komuniti Selayang received the same honour.
The programme reflects the continuous commitment of KPT, JPPKK, and APM to producing well-rounded students with strong academic foundations, discipline, and leadership, aligned with the aspirations of the Malaysia MADANI vision.
