IPOH: Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) and Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI) have further cemented their commitment to developing the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) into a competitive maritime hub in Southeast Asia.
This commitment was formalised during a recent LuMIC Development Sdn Bhd (LuMIC DevCo) Board of Directors meeting in Antwerp, where both parties reviewed the project’s progress and mapped out the next phase of implementation.
PoABI remains PKNPk’s key strategic partner, bringing expertise in maritime infrastructure, smart logistics and industrial development.
PKNPk Chief Executive Datuk Redza Rafiq said the collaboration reflects a shared vision to build a resilient maritime corridor that will deliver socio-economic benefits to the people of Perak and strengthen Malaysia’s position on the global trade map.
LuMIC DevCo board member Philippe Droesbeke underlined PoABI’s commitment not only as a technical advisor but also as a long-term strategic partner. Meanwhile, Chief Business Development Officer Alex Staring described LuMIC as a golden opportunity to spearhead industrial transformation.
LuMIC forms the core of Flagship 13 under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan and is expected to spur investments in energy, manufacturing, logistics and digital infrastructure.
A recent working visit by the Perak Menteri Besar to Europe also attracted international investors, some of whom have already conducted site visits and held follow-up discussions with PKNPk.
