‘Mat Rempit’ jailed, fined RM5,700 for illegal racing

TAIPING:  A 22-year-old man was sentenced to one day in jail and fined RM5,700 by the Taiping Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to involvement in illegal street racing.

The accused, Ahmad Danial bin Jamiruddin, entered the plea before Magistrate Prabakaran A/L Rajoo at 10am on April 27, 2026.

The court also ordered his driving licence to be revoked after he was found guilty under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Based on the facts of the case, the accused was arrested by officers from the Taiping District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division during an anti-street crime operation on December 14, 2025, at about 5am.

He was detained for his involvement in illegal street racing activities at Batu 2½, Simpang, Taiping.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Farihah Adilah binti Fazial.
