Travelodge Ipoh Recognised as Tourists’ Preferred Hotel

By Anne Das

The city’s tourism story received another boost when Travelodge Hotel Ipoh was named Tourists’ Preferred Hotel by the Ipoh City Council.

The award was presented during the launch of Ipoh City’s 38th Anniversary celebration recently at the Ipoh Convention Centre.

Travelodge Hotel Ipoh was recognised in the 4-star hotel category, placing it among the hotels acknowledged for their role in supporting the city’s growing visitor economy.

Located along Jalan Raja Dihilir, the hotel has long been part of the city’s hospitality landscape. Today, the property offers more than 260 rooms and welcomes thousands of leisure and business travellers each year.

Once viewed mainly as a stopover, Ipoh has steadily grown into a destination in its own right. Visitors now come for our heritage streets, limestone hills, kopitiam culture, cave temples, cafés, local food and slower pace of life.

Weekend breaks, family holidays, business travel and heritage tourism continue to bring visitors from across Malaysia and abroad.

As visitor numbers grow, hotels have become an important part of the overall experience. They are often the first point of contact for travellers, and a good stay can leave a lasting impression of the city.

General Manager Cheryl Lum said the recognition was a proud achievement for the entire Travelodge Hotel Ipoh team.

“We are deeply honoured to receive this award from the Ipoh City Council. Being recognised as the preferred hotel among tourists shows the trust and confidence our guests have placed in us over the years,” she said.

She added that the team remains committed to delivering quality hospitality while supporting the city’s continued growth as a tourism destination.

Behind every hotel award are the people who keep the operation running each day. Front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and event support teams all contribute to the guest experience.

Good hospitality is about more than comfortable rooms. It is about how visitors are welcomed, guided and made to feel at home.

The award comes as a reminder that tourism growth depends on many sectors working together, including hotels, restaurants, transport providers, heritage guides, event organisers, local businesses and the wider community.

When visitors enjoy their stay, they support local cafés, attractions, retailers and small businesses, helping to strengthen the local economy.

Every award earned by a local business gives visitors another reason to choose our city. Congratulations to the Travelodge Hotel Ipoh team on this well-deserved accolade.

May it inspire more hotels and tourism businesses to continue raising the standard of hospitality that keeps visitors coming back to our city.
