Floods in Perak: 373 Seeking Temporary Relief Shelters 

Recent continuous downpours have caused floods in a few districts in Perak, especially Kerian, Hilir Perak and Manjung.

As of 11am today (November 25), there are a total of 373 victims from 119 families who were placed at four temporary flood relief centres (PPS) which have been receiving victims since November 20.

According to a spokesperson for the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Kerian District recorded the highest number of flood victims at 259, all who are now placed at two PPS.

“169 individuals were placed at the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Parit Haji Aman in Bagan Serai, while 90 more, who are residents from Kampung Matang Tengah, Bagan Serai were placed at SK Changkat Lobak,” he said.

30 villagers from Kampung Ulu Kayan, Manjung were placed at SK Kayan since last Monday when the district was struck with flood.

At Hilir Perak District, the PPS is located at the city hall of Teluk Intan Municipal Council in Langkap.

It was reopened recently to receive 84 victims from Batu 9; Lorong Kedah, Batu 8; Kampung Baru, Batu 8; Lorong Mesra, Batu 7; Batu 7½ and Lorong Sidang Osman, which are all areas under the administration of the Changkat Jong constituency.
