IPOH — The Ipoh City Council (MBI) must prepare in advance and not wait for a crisis to act, said Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah.
He stressed the importance of implementing a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to ensure essential public services continue to operate under any circumstances.
“Business Continuity Management (BCM) is not just paperwork but a commitment from all departments to ensure critical services are not disrupted,” he said at the launch of the BCM briefing at the Ipoh Convention Centre recently.
The briefing was delivered by Aminudin Ramli from the Perak office of the Chief Government Security Officer (CGSO) and attended by senior management and officials from MBI.
Zamakhshari said BCM focuses on readiness to handle natural disasters, cyberattacks, and physical disruptions.
He also urged regular simulation exercises, audits, and document reviews to ensure the effectiveness of the BCP.
“Implementing BCM strengthens organisational resilience, improves efficiency and gives public services a competitive edge globally,” he added.
“The BCM aligns with the National Security Policy and must be a continuous practice,” he said.
