IPOH: Donating blood should be viewed as a shared responsibility of every member of society, not merely a matter of choice, said Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
He said this while officiating the Perak Police Blood Donation Programme held in conjunction with the 218th Police Day celebration at the Perak Senior Police Officers’ Mess here today.
According to Noor Hisam, the initiative not only aimed to foster a spirit of volunteerism among Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel but also to raise public awareness on the critical need for adequate blood supplies for patients.
“I am extremely proud to see the spirit and commitment shown by everyone present, especially PDRM personnel who came forward to donate blood this morning. This reflects the compassion and strong volunteer spirit among us,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and the National Cancer Society of Malaysia for their support in making the programme a success.
Noor Hisam further pointed out that many people still harbour negative perceptions about donating blood, fearing discomfort or physical weakness.
“Such perceptions must be dispelled. Blood donation should be regarded as a noble act that can help save the lives of those in need,” he added.
He hoped that programmes like this would continue to be organised from time to time and eventually become an enduring culture within the community.
